The Denver PCC meeting on January 22nd, 2026, focused on matters of safeguarding, parish governance, and immediate compliance. Key decisions included the support of the proposed separation of Hilgay and Ten Mile Bank into two distinct parishes.
An action plan to ensure all church events have appropriate safeguarding in place, encompassing DBS checks, training, and risk assessments was also needed. This compliance drive included clarifying the distinction between church and non-church activities for safeguarding purposes.
The accounts for the year ended 2025 were approved and will be submitted to the APCM for approval.
We are seeking to appoint a new architect for the church. They will lead on future Quinquennial Inspections and the proposed fabric changes. The proposed works include exploring options for heating upgrades and progressing the removal of rear pews, the levelling of the floor and the re-siting of the font.
A review will also take place in terms of the hymns books that are used at Denver and the hymns and songs that tend to be used in our services
There are also plans to hold a celebration service to mark the 150 year anniversary of Denver School; (proposed date is the 20th or 21st June).
